YORKSHIRE GETS A NEW PC FRIEND WITH STORE ROLL OUT
by Anonymous

August, 2003 -- PC Friend, a brand new chain of computer supplies and accessories stores, has announced that it will invest more than £1.5 million in the Yorkshire region over the next six months, opening six new stores and creating 30 jobs in the process.

With its first store opening in Wakefield next month, PC Friend is introducing a brand new concept to the computer retail sector, providing everything that customers could want, in order to make full use of their PC. It is also seeking a team of 30 people that can provide PC users with straightforward advice, with a focus on customer care.

"We aim to slice through the jargon, helping people to take advantage of the full potential of their desktop PC," explains Martin Carter, Managing Director of PC Friend. "By providing accessories, help and supplies that customers really need, at a price they can afford, we can help them to achieve this goal.

"All staff will be fully trained to help customers make the right choice, providing in-store demonstrations and recommending the most suitable products. I think the closest comparison to the PC Friend format is a car accessories store, we sell everything you could ever need for your PC - but we don't sell the PC itself."

Each PC Friend store will be tailored to suit the needs of its target customers – City Centre outlets will offer a full range of accessories for customers of all ages and interests, while others will cater for specific markets. The Headingley branch, for example, will feature products, special offers and a discount club, specifically to help the student population.

With a brand and format that is refreshingly different to other computer stores, PC Friend's creators believe that they have identified a lucrative niche in the market. With the average PC owner using less than 25 per cent of the total computing power of their machine, the right products and guidance can help them to harness it - something that PC Friend's new staff will be on hand to deliver.

Martin added: "The stores in Yorkshire are only the beginning, we aim to transform PC Friend into a national retail brand, trusted by customers to deliver quality, service and value."

The first six PC Friend stores will open in Wakefield, Headingley, Bradford, Leeds City Centre, Huddersfield and Sheffield in the next six months. PC friend is currently recruiting staff at all levels, from management to part-time sales assistants.
